1. Preamble

This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains the collection and use of information obtained from you by Copypedia LLC (“Copypedia”), a limited liability company, having a principal place of business in Delaware, USA.

The Privacy Policy explains the commitment by Copypedia to you with respect to use and disclosure of information Copypedia collects as the provider of the Website(s). See “Data Usage” below.

2. Copypedia Principles

Copypedia is committed to handling with reasonable responsibility the information it collects about you through the Website(s), whether it is personal information, non-personal browsing information, and/or and site usage data. As you care how information about you is used and shared, Copypedia appreciates your trust that it will do so carefully and sensibly.

3. Personal Information Copypedia Collects

As used in this policy, “personal information” means information that would allow a party to identify you such as, for example, your name, address or location, telephone number or email address.

We may collect personal information at several places on the Website(s), including without limitation:

  • in connection with your selection of one of our products or services including, for example, during your creation of a Copypedia Copy Report;

  • when you donate money to Copypedia or purchase merchandise;
  • when you join Copypedia, and when you thereafter create/edit your profile page, identify your content, share your story, and/or establish a Copypedia Profile;

Copypedia may receive and store any information you enter or give us in via the Website(s) or whenever you interact with Copypedia in any way. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of various features. We use the information you provide for such purposes as communicating with you, customizing your Copypedia experience, and improving the Website(s). Copypedia may use "cookies" to obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses Copypedia.com or advertisements and other content served by or on behalf of Copypedia.com on other websites. Copypedia may receive, store, use, etc. information about you from other sources and add it to account information.

When you download or use apps or plugins from Copypedia or its subsidiaries, Copypedia may receive information about your location and your mobile device, including a unique identifier for your device. Copypedia may use this information to provide you with location-based services, such as advertising, search results, and other personalized content. Most mobile devices allow you to turn off location services.

To help make e-mails more useful, Copypedia often receives a confirmation when you open e-mail from Copypedia.com if your computer supports such capabilities. If you do not want to receive e-mail or other mail from Copypedia, please adjust your User Preferences.

4. What Copypedia does with Personal Information

Products or Services. Copypedia may use the personal information provided to it as part of your selection of one of our products or services to provide you information or data that corresponds to the products or services selected.

Emails and Newsletters. Copypedia may use the personal information you provide to it when you send us emails – for example, to reply to your email or to send you communications about news and events related to Copypedia.

Regardless of the method by which you interact with Copypedia, the personal information you provide is additionally used for the purpose of contacting you about upcoming news and events relevant to Copypedia. You are provided with reasonable means to access an option to choose not to be contacted in this manner again.

Website. As a user of Copypedia, whether registered or not, you are also given an option to create public profile page where you can voluntarily post personal information for public viewing. The information that you submit on your public profile page, including but not limited to information you provide in any field and/or any photograph or image of yourself you upload, is posted by you at your discretion.

The information you publish on your public profile page, including your personal information, may be used by anyone who views that information for any lawful purpose. Copypedia may use the personal and non-personal browsing information you provide in your public profile to promote the mission and business of Copypedia.

Registered Users. When you register to obtain a user account on any Website(s) (e.g., become a a “Registered User”), you may be asked to provide personal information to create your account and establish a password and profile. If you voluntarily provide your real name in connection with any content you submit to any Website(s), your name may be associated with the content you contributed (such as when you edit your designated Copy Report). Copypedia may use that personal information to establish and maintain your membership and provide you with the features provided for Registered Users, and for the purpose of contacting you about upcoming news and events relevant to Copypedia. Copypedia may use the personal information you provide on your public page to promote the mission and business of Copypedia.

Registered Users on the Website(s) are automatically provided with a public page where you may post personal information for public viewing. You are not required to post any information or personal information on this page, but may be posted in your own sole discretion (although any information posted remains subject to Copypedia Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please note that the information you publish on your public page, including your personal information, may be used by anyone who views that information for any lawful purpose and, where relevant, subject to license terms set forth in the Terms.

5. Disclosures of Personal Information

Information about Copypedia customers and users is an important part of the Copypedia business, and we are not in the business of selling it to others. Copypedia shares personal information only as described below and with subsidiaries Copypedia that either are subject to this Privacy Policy or follow practices at least as protective as those described in this Privacy Policy:

Affiliated Businesses Not Controlled by Copypedia: Copypedia works closely with affiliated businesses. You will have notice when a third party is involved in any transaction you have with Copypedia where personal information is shared with the third party.

Third Parties: Copypedia may employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on its behalf, including, but not limited to, sending postal mail and e-mail, removing repetitive information from customer lists, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, providing search results and links (including paid listings and links), processing credit card payments, and providing customer service. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.

Promotional Offers: Sometimes Copypedia sends offers to selected groups of Copypedia users on behalf of other businesses. This does not include providing your name and address. If you do not want to receive such offers, please adjust Your Preferences.

Business Transfers: As Copypedia grows and continues to develop its business, it might sell or buy stores, subsidiaries, or other business entities. In such an instance, personal information generally is likely one of the transferred assets, but remains subject to the terms of any pre-existing Privacy Policy (unless consented otherwise). In the unlikely event Copypedia (or some of Copypedia) is acquired, personal information may be one of the transferred assets.

Protection of Copypedia and Others: Copypedia may release account and personal information when it is reasonably believed appropriate to do so in order to comply with the law; enforce or apply our Master TOS and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Copypedia, its users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. This does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from customers for purposes in violation of the terms set forth in the Privacy Policy.

Your Consent: Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.

6. Protection of Personal Information

Copypedia has implemented reasonable measures to protect against unauthorized access to and unlawful interception or processing of personal information that Copypedia stores and controls. However, no website can fully eliminate security risks. Third parties may circumvent security measures to unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications. Copypedia will post a reasonably prominent notice to the Website(s) if any such security breach occurs.

The Website(s) has security risks in addition to any described above. Among other things, the Website(s) is vulnerable to DNS attacks, and using the Website(s) may increase the risk of phishing.

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.

7. Data Usage Policy: Non Personal Browsing and Site Usage Information

Our Data Usage Policy covers how we maintain and use information about you that is collected by our Websites and server logs, including when you log into a website using your Copypedia login.

Non Personal Browsing Information We Collect. When you use the Websites, our servers (which may be hosted by a third party service provider) may collect information indirectly and automatically (through, for example, the use of your “IP address”) about your activities while visiting the Websites and information about the browser you are using. Selling or Sharing. At its discretion, Copypedia may sell or otherwise voluntarily provide the non personal browsing information we collect about you or your website usage to third parties.

8. Advertising and Cookies

Advertising may appear on the Website(s), such as Google AdSense (“Advertiser”). Copypedia or the Advertiser may use cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. Some of these cookies enable the Advertiser to serve or otherwise display ads based on websites you visit on the internet.

Advertisers may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to the Website(s) and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

You can remove the remove and disable cookies by clearing the private data in your browser and changing your browser privacy settings to refuse all cookies or to notify you when a cookie is being sent. Disabling cookies may disable some of the features of the Website.

Copypedia may display interest-based advertising using information you make available to us when you interact with Copypedia. Interest-based ads, also sometimes referred to as personalized or targeted ads, are displayed to you based on information from activities such as purchasing on our sites, visiting sites that contain Amazon content or ads, interacting with Amazon tools, or using our payment services, like Checkout by Amazon. In providing interest-based ads, Copypedia follows the Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising developed by the Digital Advertising Alliance (a coalition of marketing, online advertising, and consumer advocacy organizations).

Copypedia does not associate your interaction with unaffiliated sites with your identity in providing you with interest-based ads.

We do not provide any personal information to advertisers or to third party sites that display our interest-based ads. However, advertisers and other third-parties (including the ad networks, ad-serving companies, and other service providers they may use) may assume that users who interact with or click on a personalized ad or content are part of the group that the ad or content is directed towards (for example, users in the Pacific Northwest who bought or browsed for classical music). Also, some third-parties may provide us information about you (such as the sites where you have been shown ads or demographic information) from offline and online sources that we may use to provide you more relevant and useful advertising.

Advertisers or ad companies working on their behalf sometimes use technology to serve the ads that appear on our sites directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. They may also use cookies to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize ad content. We do not have access to or control over cookies or other features that advertisers and third party sites may use, and the information practices of these advertisers and third party websites are not covered by our Privacy Notice or this Interest-Based Ads page.

9. Reorganization or Spin-Offs

Copypedia may transfer some or all of your personal and/or non personal browsing information to a third party as a result of a reorganization, spin-off or similar transaction. Upon such transfer, the acquirer’s privacy policy will apply. In such event, Copypedia will use reasonable efforts to notify you and to ensure that at the time of the transaction the acquirer’s privacy policy complies with the Principles.

10. Children

The Websites are not directed at children under the age of 13. Consistent with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), Copypedia will never knowingly request personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without requiring parental consent. The Terms specifically prohibits anyone using Websites from submitting any personally identifiable information about persons under 13 years of age. Any person who provides their personal information to Copypedia through the Websites represents that they are 13 years of age or older.

11. Third-Party Sites

The Websites may include links to other websites. You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other websites.

12. Special Note to International (non-U.S.) Users

The Website(s) is hosted in the United States. If you are accessing the Website(s) from any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use and disclosure that differ from United States laws, please note that you are transferring your personal data to the United States which does not have the same data protection laws as other regions. By providing your personal data you consent to:

  • the use of your personal data for the uses identified above in accordance with the Privacy Policy; and
  • the transfer of your personal data to the United States as indicated above.
13. Changes and Updates to this Privacy Policy

As a business Copypedia incurs and undertakes constant change, which may result in occasional or periodic updates to the Privacy Policy. When this occurs the Effective Date below will be revised. All Website(s) users are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed about how Copypedia uses and/or protects the personal information collected. Your continued use of the Websites constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any updates, and is subject to the Terms, including limitations on damages, resolution of disputes, and application of the law of the state of Delaware.
